The systems available at VCPC are:
an heterogeneous Beowulf cluster consisting of 2 homogeneous subclusters and
and a front-end node. The subclusters consist of:
- 16 nodes: single Pentium 4 (3.06GHz)
with 2GB DDR RAM communicating over Gigabit Ethernet,
- 16 nodes: quad Pentium III Xeon (700MHz) (SGI 1450) with 2GB ECC RAM communicating over Myrinet.
The cluster has two frontends which are dual Pentium 4 Xeon (2.4GHz) PCs with 4GB DDR RAM.
The the file and batch server is a dual Pentium 4 Xeon (2.4GHz) PC with 3GB DDR RAM and 480GB RAID-5 user disk-space.
A Fast-Ethernet network connects all computers in the cluster.
- A heterogeneous network of SUN workstations.
- A dual Pentium II (400MHz) PC running Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server to
provide support for MS Windows® based software. Access is through Citrix
MetaFrame® from any Workstation at VCPC or the
Institute for Software Science
of the University of Vienna.
